Cousin Benson's 1st Birthday

December 14th, 2013 marked the 1st birthday of our nephew Benson (son of Tyler and AmiCheri).

We went over to Glendale to celebrate.  AmiCheri had chosen a camping theme, making the party: "Camp Benson".  For food she had cold cuts, fresh vegetables, chips, goldfish, and cupcakes that were frosted in bright colors that put together created a flower.  We were even able to rig up a small fire (in a grill) where we made some s'mores (yum! my personal favorite!!).  Lots of family (Papi, Merma, Gabriel and I, my brother Jason with his girlfriend Lynn, Jason's daughter Ellie) and friends were in attendance.

Even though AmiCheri had said "No gifts" on the invitation everyone brought a little something for Benson.

I can say that after the initial reaction and he realized it was his favorite (chocolate) that then he dove right in and enjoyed every last crumb!






























I would say that in all he seemed to have had a great celebration for his 1st birthday.   I know that all too soon we and all the rest of my family are going to be scattered all across the globe.  It has already happened to about half of my siblings and time is drawing to a quick close on when my brother Tyler will leave and then lastly us.  We are certainly trying to make the most of the time we have left.  I am grateful that we live so close to family such that we can enjoy these small celebrations together.
